Reflections Internship

Recruiting more homegrown Alaskans into the state’s media industry.

Program vision

An Alaska media workforce more reflective of the people who live in Alaska.

Program mission

Support newsrooms in providing paid internships that enhance coverage through local knowledge and traditionally underrepresented perspectives.

As part of our pilot Reflections Internship Program with KUCB-Unalaska. Kanesia McGlashen-Price hosted newscasts, published seven stories and held two listening sessions in nearby communities, Akutan and Atka.  While she was in Atka, she also worked with students on media production. In addition, she on hand during one tsunami evacuation and a tsunami advisory and her assistance made a huge difference in KUCB emergency messaging.
